Wellness: The sexy buzzword of 2020.
The one word, phrase, and state of being that keeps popping up on all of our social media scrolls and news outlets is: WELLNESS.
The wellness industry represents 5.3% of the global economic output, and is currently valued at >$4.5 trillion. Wellness, or some refer to wellness as “self-care,” is a conscious lifestyle decision that has been trending upwards over the last few decades not only for the aesthetic glamour, but for our emotional health as well.
There are a ton of different definitions of wellness, but I like to categorize it with a balance between our mental, physical, & spiritual health and connection.
If you are aiming to live a life full of intention, purpose, and joy, and are consciously trying to reduce the burnout phase in your career, below are my top tips on how to cultivate wellness into your daily life. Answer these questions, and from there create a life by DESIGN to ensure you are incorporating your answers into your life.
1. How do you define self-care? What does self-care mean to you? How often do you tap into your self-care routine?
2. How do you stay focused throughout the day? Do you have a plan on how you want to conquer each day? The more focused and intentional you are, the more likely you will achieve your daily goals, and the less likely you will feel like you are chasing or being reactive to the day.
3. Who do you give away your time and energy to? Are they reciprocating? Is that time being spent useful to you? If not, how can you remove it from your routine?
4. How often are you moving your body? When you exercise, how do you feel afterwards? What counts as a successful exercise?
5. How are you learning how to manage your triggers? The pause between the trigger and the response is where healing happens.
Bottom line: consistency, routines, and knowing yourself is the best way to live a life full (and not depleted) of wellness.
There are hundreds of different probing questions to do with wellness, but this is a great 5 q’s to get started.
Please let me know your thoughts on this… It is a great topic to cover during work and family conversations, especially as of late because of the state of the world we are in right now.
Have a lovely week!
Yours truly,
Ashlee
