How COVID-19 is impacting RX Ashlee - Both the Biz & Personal Life
Dear warrior,
I am calling you a warrior this morning because as we get deeper into 2020, our ability to continuously rise ABOVE the chaos is an absolute requirement to thrive in our life right now.
We are all warriors this year, 2020 has been a fight for many of us, and I am no exception.
After 12 weeks of being quarantined and rearranging our entire lives, I thought I would open up with you about how I've adjusted my business, as well as my personal life to adjust to the pandemic.
BUSINESS:
-8 speaking engagements were canceled this summer, 3 of them have shifted online.
-I've created 3 additional online courses (more on that soon!) to meet the needs of clients reaching out to me regarding job transitions. With ~30 million Americans out of work, my inbox has been flooded with career related questions.
-I've shifted to online marketing more than ever. Traditionally my marketing efforts have been made with my speaking engagements (I did 25 keynotes in 2019), so my online marketing has been minimal. However, now with IRL events canceled, I've hired a PR-team to support me with this pivot. Think: more hashtags, more posting, more podcasts, more emails, more blogging, etc. This has been a huge shift for me to adjust to... I am having a ton of fun with it too!
-Instead of biweekly calls for Career By Design, I showed up daily in March and April, and now weekly for my inner circle.
-I joined an online women's mastermind group to continue to surround myself with like-minded professionals. Having a support community to bounce ideas off of has been instrumental in both my business growth and personal development.
PERSONAL:
-My husband is front lines with COVID right now (he is a physician), so our roles have significantly shifted over the last 3-4 months. That means a lot more responsibility on me to cover the house & family needs.... (my dogs are driving me nuts right now - anyone want a great dane?! haha!!)
-Similar to you, my daughter's school was closed down. Meaning I am primary caretaker + running a business full time. This was the biggest adjustment for me, so I am constantly working on strengthening my own boundaries
-Upping my own self-care. I've taken drastic measures to monitor my mental health. I started seeing my therapist weekly, joined a virtual workout bootcamp, and I have a strict AM and PM routine to enforce my self-care measures.
-I bought my first cookbook! I've always been gifted cookbooks, and never really cracked them open, but cooking has brought me so much joy over the last 3-4 months that I decided to UP my game and invest in a good cookbook.
The truth is: I am sharing this with you simply because I am no different than you. I want to encourage you that if you need help or if you are feeling isolated during this time, please reach out to me. I deeply care about you, and your well-being.
THE MOST EXCITING NEWS: I have a few new online Summits that I am participating in this summer, and will be reaching out to you more often this month. I hope you enjoy the content just as much as I do!
Always with you,
Ash
