On Trusting & Loving Yourself
On Trusting & Loving Yourself.
2020 has thrown us all for a loop. This year, in particular, I’ve been deep into the weeds of unlearning bad habits that I’ve picked up over my lifetime & my career. My hyper-vigilant, overachieving, & people-pleasing tendencies got me to a place of “success” (on paper) while still living with chronic gut-wrenching fear, nerves & anxiety. With this new-ish awareness & clarity about myself, I committed the year of 2020 on how to break old habits that were no longer serving me and build a more aligned & more authentic relationship with ME – Ashlee (even amongst the elections, COVID, and all of 2020...)!
What trusting myself more has taught me is multiple fold:
When I follow my natural strengths, success flows more easily
When I let go of controlling others thoughts or opinions, I have more space & time to check in on me
I am more conscious & aware of who I receive advice & support from
I avoid saying “yes” out of obligation
Everything is not on my shoulders, every human does their part to make their part to make this world work
And…. SO MUCH MORE!
When you build a deeper relationship with yourself, you learn:
How to trust yourself more, and avoid being influenced by others thoughts, opinions, or views
Pay attention & zoom in on your strengths – outsource or ask an expert for help in your weakness
How to listen to what your body needs, less about what others are telling you that you need
How to let go of controlling others & the belief that others NEED you in order to survive and thrive
Spend less time worrying about other people, things, or flashy shiny objects
If you are learning how to trust yourself more, here are a few questions to ask yourself:
Who do I want to be?
What are my own core values and beliefs?
What is most important to me?
What qualities of people do I want to surround myself with to be the best person I can be? Do they support the life I am trying to create?
