Mission Statement vs. Vision Statement

This week I was interview prepping a client, and she asked me to review the differences between a Mission Statement vs. Vision Statement. 

This is such a great question.

Let's review the difference together.

Mission Statement: ​short summary of a person's or an organization’s core intention, purpose, & goal. Traditionally, this includes 2-3 sentences describing what the person or organization does and their key objectives.​

Vision Statement: states the current and future objectives of an organization. It is intended to use as a guide to help the person or organization make decisions that align with its philosophy and declared mission statement​

Your mission statement is the "what" and the "how" of your goals.

Your vision statement ​is the "how" in accomplishing the mission statement.
