I am mastering the art of the humble brag right now (and it is kinda scary!).
I've been hitting up these blog posts hard the last few weeks because there is just so much to share right now! My soul is on fire talking about how to stand out & thrive in this 2020 digital era.
And, as part of my interview prep series + personal branding expertise, I teach my clients how to become the expert at marketing themselves. There is no doubt that mastering the art of how you present yourself in a high stakes situation, such as an interview, is a large piece of standing out in a competitive marketplace.
However, that is only a small piece of the pie.
What else is important to stand out in a competitive & "saturated" marketplace? VISIBILITY.
As part of mastering the art of the humble brag, I knew it was time for me to LEVEL up my visibility, especially when the pandemic hit because all of my in person events were canceled.
So, I made it a GOAL (yes, even the anti-goal girl) to get published in a high volume, high traffic, & highly publicized website this year.
Andddddddd GUESS WHAT? IT HAPPENED YESTERDAY.
I am sharing this with you for a few reasons:
1. I did NOT wing this. I practiced pitching myself, I worked with my team on how to master MY art of the humble brag, and I hired a PR staff to support me in getting this publication.
2. I updated my brand messaging & marketing messaging to fit the specific niche of women who I LOVE working with.
3. I made sure my website, my instagram, and my LinkedIn profile were COHESIVE and were all aligned with the same message.
4. I changed my mindset. I quit playing small this year, and started saying NO to opportunities that were not getting me closer to my VISIBILITY goal.
5. Most importantly, I did not just SET THE GOAL and leave it. I created a strategy, I hired the right people to support me, I worked hard at writing better, I put myself out in the media, and SO MUCH MORE.
I am sharing this with you because I want you to know that there is NO SUCH THING as setting a goal, and hoping it lands. Nope. Gone are those days where you can just cross your fingers and HOPE that your goal comes true. Unfortunately, the marketplace is just too busy. You need TOOLS on how to stand out, and this is just one example of how I've smashed my own goal :)
Please check out the article, share it with a friend, and let me know your thoughts!!
p.s. As someone who prides themselves in being VERY humble, I recognize this email is NOT that humble... but I need to practice what I preach in order to level up my own game, right? ha!
Always with you,
Ashlee
